
Fatal 3-car collision in Hood River blamed on impaired driver
A fatal three-vehicle collision occurred on Wednesday night in Hood River, resulting in one fatality and one individual being taken into custody, as reported by Oregon State Police. The tragic incident happened around 9:30 p.m. on Hwy 281 near milepost 7. Authorities revealed that Pedro Flores-Flores, aged 26, attempted to overtake a Toyota Corolla in a restricted passing area while driving a Subaru Impreza southward on the highway. This action led to a direct collision with a motorcyclist, Phillip Himes, 37, who was traveling northbound. Himes lost his life in the accident. Flores-Flores has been charged with several offenses including manslaughter, DUII, reckless driving, and reckless endangering, according to OSP.
