Esquivel's boyfriend, who has chosen to remain anonymous, shared that they were on their way to satisfy her pregnancy craving when the tragic incident occurred. Despite sustaining injuries of his own, he tried desperately to save her, recounting the harrowing experience of the accident. The driver responsible for the crash, Daniel Ramos, was arrested for suspicion of felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter after failing a field sobriety test at the scene. Esquivel's sister expressed anger at the loss of both her sister and the unborn child due to the alleged selfish act of the driver.
