FAA report: 6 fatalities in Point Loma plane crash

A Cessna 414 aircraft crashed off Point Loma Sunday afternoon, resulting in the tragic loss of all six people on board. The U.S. Coast Guard launched a search operation immediately after the crash, utilizing boats and a helicopter. According to a preliminary report from the FAA, the plane crashed into the waters under unknown circumstances. The tail number of the aircraft was N414BA. Jim Kidrick, CEO and President of the Air and Space museum, described the aircraft as a twin-engine turbo piston airplane capable of flying on one engine. The cause of the crash remains uncertain, but investigations are ongoing. Additionally, authorities discovered an oil sheen and debris in the water. The NTSB will conduct a full investigation into the crash.
