Ex-Police Sergeant in East Hanover Sentenced for Deadly Drunk Driving Accident Per Prosecutor

A 42-year-old former police sergeant from Wanaque was sentenced to five years in prison on June 17 for causing a fatal collision last October while driving under the influence. The incident occurred on Route 23 North when the sergeant's vehicle collided with another car, resulting in the death of a passenger. The sergeant, Keith Gunther, pleaded guilty to reckless vehicular homicide, assault by auto, and DUI charges.
