An older driver experienced only minor injuries after her car was hit by a Metra Union Pacific-Northwest train on Monday morning. Emergency responders were alerted to a minor collision at a railroad crossing on Algonquin Road where the driver had a vehicle crash. The driver was alone in the car and managed to exit before help arrived but complained of minor injuries. She was taken to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital for treatment. Metra service was initially disrupted, but outbound trains resumed by 12:30 p.m., and there were delays. However, inbound trains were still on hold with expected delays. The incident is being investigated by the Fox River Grove Police Department and Metra Police Department.
