Easton stabbing victim shows up at Fresno hospital following car crash
EASTON, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - A man stabbed at a gas station in Easton arrived at a Fresno hospital Sunday afternoon after also being involved in a car crash, the Fresno County Sheriff's Office says. Deputies say they were alerted to a disturbance outside Jack's Gas at Lincoln and Elm Avenues shortly before noon. It was reported that a group of young men approached a man in the parking lot and a physical altercation broke out. Investigators say one of the people involved in the disturbance produced a knife. They also say the man who was originally approached received minor injuries and one man from the group sustained a serious stab wound. The sheriff's office says the group of young men fled in a vehicle before deputies arrived at the gas station. A short time later, Fresno police were summoned to a car crash in front of Community Regional Medical Center at Fresno and R Streets. They noticed that the black Cadillac involved appeared to match the one that fled the Easton gas station about eight miles away. Everyone inside was detained for questioning. And, officers learned that one of the men who was originally in the car was no longer. Investigators say a passerby picked the injured man up and drove him to the hospital as he was suffering a significant injury. That man was admitted for treatment and is currently listed in critical condition. Deputies continue to look into this case and will interview everyone involved to better understand what happened and determine which arrests might need to be made. Anyone with information in this case is asked to contact the Fresno County Sheriff's Office at 559-600-3111.
