DWI suspect held without bond after Camden County fatal wreck, records say
A Columbia man has been charged with a fatal crash in Camden County , where troopers said he was driving drunk. The Missouri State Highway Patrol’s online crash report states that the crash happened at 6:22 p.m. on MO 5 at Niangua Bridge. According to the crash report, a 2004 Toyota Highlander and a 2018 BMW X3 hit head-on. The Toyota driver, a 63-year-old man from Roach, Mo., was pronounced dead at the hospital. The BMW driver, Dylan Gibson, 27, was not hurt, but a passenger, a 22-year-old Columbia man, was flown to University Hospital with serious injuries. Court documents state that when a Camden County deputy got to the scene, he saw Gibson throwing small bottles of alcohol off the bridge. The deputy arrested Gibson. The documents state that Gibson’s blood alcohol was at .233%. Prosecutors charged Gibson with DWI – Death of Another and DWI – Serious Physical Injury. He was being held in the Camden County Jail without bond.
