Driver taken into custody in fatal Provo crash that claimed the life of a 3-year-old

Earlier today in Provo, Utah, a tragic incident occurred when two young children were struck by a car while playing, resulting in the death of a three-year-old. The driver, Nereyda Miranda, was arrested in connection with the crash. Miranda had trash bags on her windshield, intending to dispose of them as she left the Brough Trailer Court. Unfortunately, she did not see the children, who were stationary by the road repairing a bike. Miranda has been charged with Manslaughter and is now in custody at the Utah County Jail. The incident took place at around 1:10 p.m. on October 28 at 860 W Columbia Lane in Provo. One child passed away from their injuries, and the other, a four-year-old, sustained minor injuries. There is an ongoing investigation by the Provo Police Department's Traffic Team, although impairment is not suspected to have contributed to the accident. Our thoughts are with the family during this difficult time.
