Driver saved from truck dangling off bridge on US 35 in Mason County, WV

In Mason County, West Virginia, emergency crews successfully rescued a tractor-trailer driver trapped in his cab hanging partially over a bridge after a crash. The incident occurred early in the morning on U.S. 35, near Sixteen Mile Creek Road, when the tractor-trailer, carrying bricks, lost control and hit a concrete barrier. Thanks to the heavy load of bricks, the entire vehicle was prevented from falling completely off the bridge. First responders used innovative methods, such as a ladder truck and a daring firefighter rescue to reach the driver, who had been stuck in the cab for over five hours. Fortunately, the driver was unharmed, and the southbound lanes have been reopened. However, the northbound lanes will remain closed for some time due to the slippery road conditions caused by diesel spillage. A collaborative effort involving Mason County EMS, and the Hurricane, Winfield, and Point Pleasant fire departments, has been crucial in managing the situation.
