Driver pleads guilty to vehicular manslaughter in fatal Mohawk I-90 crash case

MOHAWK, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Montgomery County District Attorney's Office reported on Wednesday that Veronica Armbruster of Delmar pleaded guilty to second-degree vehicular manslaughter in a fatal crash case. Armbruster, 60, was taken into custody by State Police last May. As part of her plea, Armbruster admitted to driving drunk on I-90 in the town of Mohawk on February 20, 2025, leading to a head-on collision with Cole Sevigny, 26, of Hudson, New Hampshire. Sevigny died from his injuries at Saint Mary’s Hospital, and Armbruster was later found to have had a blood alcohol content of 0.16% at the time of the crash. "Cole was a beloved young man with his entire life ahead of him, engaged to be married with a wedding date of August 2025," Montgomery County District Attorney Christina Pearson stated. "This case is a tragic reminder of the devastating and irreversible consequences of choosing to drink and drive impaired. My deepest condolences go out to his family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time." Armbruster is expected to face the charge's maximum sentence of two years and four months to seven years in state prison. Additionally, Armbruster's driver's license would be revoked. She was held in county jail ahead of her sentencing scheduled for June 4.
