Driver killed after crossing into oncoming traffic in Chantilly, Va.
A Chantilly man was killed and another driver was injured in a two-vehicle crash Thursday morning in Fairfax County , according to police. Officers responded around 8:38 a.m. to the 4300 block of Pleasant Valley Road in the Chantilly area for a reported crash involving a passenger vehicle and a commercial truck, the Fairfax County Police Department said. ALSO READ | Pedestrian killed in hit-and-run crash in Seven Corners Preliminary findings indicate a 2001 Honda Accord was traveling southbound on Pleasant Valley Road when it crossed into the northbound lanes and collided with a 2001 Ford F-450 Super Duty truck. The driver of the Honda, identified by police as Daniel Tsequi Mehari, 52, was taken to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The driver of the Ford F-450, an adult male, was taken to a hospital with injuries that police described as non-life-threatening. Detectives with the department's Crash Reconstruction Unit are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. Police said preliminary evidence indicates that neither speed nor alcohol appears to have been a factor in the collision.
