
Driver in fatal Pittsburgh-area crash was almost 3 times over legal alcohol limit
A Penn Hills man is facing serious charges in connection with a fatal crash in Monroeville last year. According to the Allegheny County Police Department, Marcus Alston Sr., 49, had a blood alcohol level nearly three times the legal limit. The crash occurred on Nov. 3, 2024, resulting in injuries to three people and the death of one person. The police reported that Alston was driving a Nissan Pathfinder at over 90 miles per hour in a 35-mile-per-hour zone when he rear-ended a Toyota RAV4. The victim, Shiya Young, died in the hospital. Alston has been charged with offenses including homicide by vehicle and involuntary manslaughter.
