Driver in fatal crash on North Union and Research Parkway identified
The El Paso County Coroner's Office has identified the driver who tragically passed away in an accident on June 29 in Colorado Springs. The driver, Lana Arbogast, a 74-year-old woman, was involved in a collision at the intersection of North Union Boulevard and Research Parkway. Despite receiving immediate medical care from emergency responders, she succumbed to her injuries on July 4. The accident occurred as Arbogast, driving a Hyundai SUI, attempted to make a left turn onto North Union Boulevard from Research Parkway. The investigation by the Colorado Springs Police Department revealed that the collision happened when an Audi Q7, traveling with a green light in the opposite direction on Research Parkway, struck the passenger side of Arbogast's vehicle. While no charges have been filed yet, CSPD is continuing their investigation into the incident. This marks the 20th traffic fatality in Colorado Springs this year, a lower figure compared to the same period last year when 30 deaths were recorded.
