Driver from Missouri collides with Michigan State Police car while impaired by drugs
Authorities reported that a man from Missouri, who was determined to be under the influence of drugs, collided with a Michigan State Police car during a traffic stop on Sunday night. The incident occurred on westbound I-94 near Mile Marker 25 in Berrian County's Lincoln Township. A trooper had pulled over a vehicle when the man swerved off the road and crashed into the patrol vehicle around 11:10 p.m. Fortunately, the trooper was not injured as he was outside of the vehicle at the time. No other individuals were harmed. The 33-year-old suspect was found to be under the influence of drugs and was subsequently arrested. This marked the second crash involving an MSP vehicle in the Southwest Michigan area within a week. Drivers are reminded of Michigan's Move Over law, which mandates slowing down and changing lanes for emergency vehicles with activated lights, including police, fire, EMS, tow trucks, and MDOT courtesy vehicles.
