Driver ejected from car after crash into pole, is in critical condition: Gresham police
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A driver has been seriously injured after crashing into a pole and being ejected from the car in Gresham Friday evening, authorities said. Just before 5:30 p.m., the Gresham Police Department said they and medical personnel responded to a report of a single-car crash near Northeast 181st Avenue and Northeast Couch Street. According to investigating officers, the car "left the roadway, struck a utility pole, and came to rest against a nearby apartment building." The driver was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and is in critical condition, officials said. There were no other reported injuries, and it's unclear what caused the crash. There was some damage to a utility pole, which was repaired by crews while the road was shut down for several hours earlier Friday. Police said it's a good reminder to always wear a seatbelt, as it eliminates the chance of someone being ejected from a car in a crash.
