Driver denied bond reduction after fatal hit-and-run crash in Bellefontaine Neighbors
ST. LOUIS - New details have emerged after a north St. Louis man was charged in a fatal crash that killed three women in Bellefontaine Neighbors in early May. Devin Daugherty, 20, is being held at the St. Louis County Jail on a $250,000 cash-only bond after the crash that killed 18-year-old Jordyn “Lunar” Williams, 53-year-old Cherese Fisher, and 28-year-old Andrea Medina. Investigators say Daugherty was driving a Cadillac around 8:30 p.m. May 1 when he sideswiped a Lexus on Lewis and Clark Boulevard, pushing it into oncoming traffic where it hit another vehicle head-on. Prosecutors said Daugherty was driving more than 100 mph on Lewis and Clark Boulevard, where the speed limit is 45 mph, before the crash. Daugherty appeared in court Tuesday, asking a judge to lower his bond, but the request was denied. Prosecutors argued he is a danger to the public, pointing to his alleged speed, leaving the scene after the crash, and his history of traffic violations. According to prosecutors, Daugherty has 16 prior traffic citations, some dating back to when he was 16. Daugherty's next court appearance is set for June 3.
