Driver dead after crash on I-64 East in Goochland
GOOCHLAND COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A driver is dead after a Friday afternoon two-vehicle crash on Interstate 64 East in Goochland County. The crash occurred at around 3:01 p.m. on Friday, July 17, along I-64 East near the exit onto Old Fredericksburg Road, according to Virginia State Police. Police said the preliminary investigation indicates that a 2008 Dodge Durango SUV was heading east and swerved into the front bumper of a tractor-trailer that was trying to pass in the left lane. The SUV then ran off the road, hit an embankment and overturned, according to officials. The driver of the Durango was reportedly ejected and died at the scene. Police have not yet released the driver's identity, as the driver's family is being notified of the deadly crash. Officials continue to investigate.
