(WFLA) — A driver has been arrested in connection with an April 30 crash that left a 6-year-old girl dead, the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office said. Jayanna Clark, 27, was taken into custody on Thursday for one count of vehicular homicide and two counts of child neglect, according to authorities. Investigators said Clark had two children, a 6-year-old girl and a 4-year-old boy, in her Nissan Altima when they got into a crash at the intersection of Tampa Road and St. Petersburg Drive. Clark was heading eastbound on Tampa Road, while another driver, a 52-year-old woman in a Tesla Model 3, was facing westbound in the turn lane on Tampa Road to go south onto St. Petersburg Drive. Detectives said both drivers entered the intersection at the same time and collided in the middle. All four were taken to the hospital. The 6-year-old girl died from her injuries about a week later. Investigators said speed appeared to be a factor in the crash but did not say exactly how fast Clark or the other driver was going. Clark was booked into the Pinellas County Jail on Thursday. Her booking records were not yet available. She was previously the victim in multiple kidnapping incidents, where authorities said Clark's ex-boyfriend forced her into his car and kept her from leaving. It's unclear what her relationship is with the two children who were in her car.
