Driver arrested, in ICE detention after semi-truck accident causes 3 deaths in Fort Pierce
A truck driver from California, Harjinder Singh, has been arrested for vehicular homicide following a tragic accident in Fort Pierce that resulted in the death of three individuals. The incident occurred on the Florida Turnpike in St. Lucie County, where Singh attempted a prohibited U-turn at a turnaround intended solely for emergency vehicles. This led to a collision with a Chrysler minivan traveling in the opposite direction, resulting in the tragic loss of two passengers and the driver of the minivan. The crash necessitated the closure of all northbound lanes on the turnpike as emergency crews worked to extricate the victims and clear the debris. Singh, who had entered the U.S. illegally in 2018 before obtaining a Commercial Driver's License in California, is facing three counts of vehicular homicide and is currently under an ICE detainer. The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV) denounced Singh's actions as both negligent and criminal, emphasizing the irreparable loss suffered by the victims' loved ones.
