Driver arrested in connection with fatal crash on Chef Menteur Hwy
Police in New Orleans have apprehended a driver following a fatal collision that occurred on Saturday night. The suspect, Donte Harris, aged 26, was taken into custody in connection to the incident that took place at the crossroads of Chef Menteur Highway and Dodt Avenue at approximately 4:36 p.m. Allegedly, Harris, driving a Tesla, was traveling east on Chef Menteur Highway and tried to turn left onto Dodt Avenue when the collision with the dirt bike rider, who was going west on the same highway, transpired. Following a thorough investigation, law enforcement concluded that Harris was responsible for the vehicular manslaughter and subsequently arrested him. The investigation is ongoing.
