Driver arrested for homicide, year after fatal crash
MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- A woman has been charged with vehicular homicide over a year after a passenger was ejected from her vehicle and killed in a crash at Sharpe Avenue and Prescott Road in the Cherokee area. Heather Renderos, 47, and several others, including a child, were also hurt in the wreck. Renderos was also charged with driving under the influence, driving with a revoked or suspended license, and without insurance. Police said on March 19, 2025, Renderos had been drinking when she lost control of her vehicle, hit the curb and an MLGW pole, and overturned. Her rear passenger, Miranda Flamenco, was ejected from the vehicle through the rear windshield. Flamenco was transported to Regional One Medical Center, where she succumbed to her injuries. A second passenger was taken to the Regional One Medical Center in non-critical condition, and a child was taken to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in non-critical condition. Police said Renderos was also transported to Regional One Hospital, where officers confirmed that she was the driver and smelled the odor of an intoxicant coming from her breath. Investigators said they conducted a Standardized Field Sobriety Test and concluded that Renderos was intoxicated. They said Renderos also consented to a blood test, and her BAC was 0.125. Renderos is being held without bail and has no scheduled court date.
