Driver accused of hitting 11-month-old and 11-year-old in Manchester
Two children sustained critical injuries in a car accident in Manchester around 4 p.m. on Thursday. The incident occurred when a speeding vehicle hit the children as a family crossed Belmont Street near Lake Avenue. The children, aged 11 months and 11 years, were rushed to hospitals in Boston for medical treatment. The car also collided with a pole and another vehicle at the intersection of Belmont and Hanover streets. Both drivers involved sustained injuries but are expected to recover. Justin LaClair, 23, of Manchester, the driver responsible for hitting the children, is facing charges including aggravated DWI and reckless conduct, among others. Initially denying involvement in the crash to officers, LaClair later admitted to driving after drinking alcohol. He reported blacking out after the accident and waking up in the hospital. LaClair is set to appear in court for arraignment on Friday.
