DPS: Driver dies in wrong-way crash in Alton
ALTON, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A man was pronounced dead following a two-vehicle crash on Sunday, the Texas Department of Public Safety said. At approximately 11:14 p.m., troopers responded to a crash off of Moorefield Road north of Mile 8 Road, according to a news release from DPS. A preliminary investigation revealed that a gray Ford Fusion was traveling southbound in the northbound lane of Moorefield Road. A black Chevrolet Blazer was traveling north when it made a sudden move and drove onto the southbound lane to avoid crashing into the Ford. The driver of the Ford then corrected his path and drove onto the southbound lane when he crashed with the Chevrolet head-on. The driver of the Chevrolet was taken to Doctors’ Hospital at Renaissance for medical evaluation. The driver of the Ford died from his injuries at the scene. DPS will provide additional information about the victim after the next of kin has been notified, the release added.
