Distracted driver causes two-car crash in Plainfield

A distracted driver caused a two-vehicle crash in Plainfield on Saturday night, according to Plainfield police. The incident occurred at 8:18 p.m. when a 35-year-old man was driving his 2016 Hyundai Genesis on Norwich Road. He admitted to police that he looked away from the road as he approached the intersection of Norwich and Dow Roads, leading to a collision with the back of a 2005 Ford F-150 that was stopped at a traffic light. The impact caused the Hyundai to hit a utility pole and become inoperable. The driver suffered minor injuries and was treated at a nearby hospital; he also received a warning for following too closely. The Ford truck passengers, a 60-year-old man and a 51-year-old woman, declined medical assistance.
