Deadly crash on Ohio interstate kills Pennsylvania man

A man from Pennsylvania tragically passed away in a collision involving two vehicles on Interstate 680 South in Boardman. The incident occurred near milepost 12, close to the Route 224 overpass, just before 6 p.m. According to WKBN, the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) stated that both vehicles were in the left southbound lane when 39-year-old Alex Lowry of McKeesport, Pennsylvania, rear-ended a Nissan Rogue with his 2014 Dodge Charger. Lowry's vehicle then veered off the road, crashing into a guardrail and three concrete bridge supports before overturning. He was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene, as he was not wearing a seatbelt. The Nissan also veered off the road, hitting a guardrail and overturning. Its driver sustained minor injuries and was taken to the hospital. The crash's cause is under investigation, with speed being considered as a factor. The Canfield post of OSHP is leading the investigation. After closing for approximately three hours, I-680 was reopened, and the Ohio Department of Transportation confirmed the bridge was structurally sound. Boardman law enforcement, fire departments, and the Mahoning County Coroner's Office provided assistance at the scene.
