A tragic accident on Tuesday evening, July 23, resulted in the closure of U.S. Route 22 in Lebanon County for several hours, with an extended closure between Gravel Hill Road and Jonestown Road. The fatal crash occurred around 4:30 p.m. near Coon Creek Road in East Hanover Township, Lebanon County, as confirmed by PennDOT spokesperson Fritzi Schreffler in a recent email. Despite being initially reported as a standard traffic incident, Pennsylvania State Police later confirmed the crash as fatal. As of the latest update provided around 6:45 p.m., the roadway was anticipated to reopen by 10 p.m. Emergency responders and PennDOT Lebanon County crews were on-site to manage the situation.
