Deadly accident caused by black ice in Taney County
A tragic incident occurred on Wednesday, Jan. 21, in Taney County, Missouri, where a man lost his life after being hit by a vehicle due to icy road conditions. Reports from the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) state that a 58-year-old man from Merriam Woods was fatally struck at around 6:58 a.m. on Route EE near Roackaway Beach. The man's car had become disabled on the road because of black ice. As he stepped outside his vehicle, he was hit by a 54-year-old woman from Rockaway Beach driving a Ford Expedition, who had lost control on the icy road. Tragically, the man passed away at the scene, as confirmed by the Taney County Coroner, and his family has been informed. It is the third fatality for Troop D in 2026.
