Dead driver and dozens injured in commuter rail accident near Barcelona
A commuter train in the vicinity of Barcelona, Spain derailed recently, resulting in the tragic death of the train operator and injuries to thirty-six other individuals of varying severity. This incident occurred just after a fatal collision involving two high-speed trains in Adamuz, Spain, which claimed the lives of 41 individuals. According to reports, the derailment happened around 10:00 pm local time following heavy rainfall in Gelina that caused a retaining wall to collapse and impact the R4-line commuter train. Some of the injured are in serious condition, while others have sustained less severe or minor injuries. Spanish President Pedro Sánchez expressed his concern and solidarity in a statement regarding the Gelida train accident. Emergency services have been actively responding to the situation, with ambulances and firefighter units deployed, and public transportation services to and from Barcelona are temporarily halted until investigations are completed.
