Day care fire in Oklahoma City started by car accident; All 33 children and 5 staff unharmed
A car accident caused a fire at La Petite Academy day care in Oklahoma City on Friday afternoon, resulting in the safe evacuation of 33 children and five staff members. According to Scott Douglas of the Oklahoma City Fire Department, one of the vehicles involved in the two-car collision veered off West Reno Avenue, west of Mustang Road, and into the day care, igniting a fire. The cause of the fire is still being investigated, but officials commended the daycare staff for their swift response. Firefighters faced challenges containing the blaze due to limited access around the building. Although details leading to the crash are still under investigation, the driver was extricated from his vehicle by firefighters. The driver's current condition is unknown, but he was alive when taken to the hospital.
