DA: Woman sentenced for deadly red light crash in Visalia
TULARE COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - A woman was sentenced for killing a man in 2021 in a crash after she ran through a red light in Visalia, the Tulare County District Attorney's Office said. Prosecutors secured a guilty verdict for Ping See, 40, for gross vehicular manslaughter. It was reported on April 21, 2021, that See was driving an estimated 80 mph when she was going westbound on Walnut Avenue in Visalia. See ran a red light at the intersection of Mooney Boulevard, where she crashed into a pickup truck. It was reported that the truck ignited and witnesses rushed to the scene to render aid, including bringing water to douse the flames. A man died at the scene from his injuries. In an interview with Sum, See stated that she was mad at her husband, which was a reason why she was driving recklessly. At trial, a jury found See guilty of felony gross vehicular manslaughter with negligence. Sentencing is scheduled for March 24, 2026, in Superior Court. According to current California sentencing laws regarding manslaughter, See faces up to 6 years in prison. Prosecutors will argue for the maximum term allowed by law.
