Crash forces officials to temporarily shut down portion of I-65 in Bartholomew County
BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY, Ind. — A crash forced officials to temporarily close a portion of Interstate 65 northbound in Bartholomew County on Sunday. According to a notification from the Indiana Department of Transportation, the crash occurred near mile marker 77 of I-65 northbound, which is located between Edinburgh and Taylorsville. INDOT first reported the crash around 3:02 p.m. INDOT characterized the portion of I-65 affected by the crash as I-65 northbound between U.S. Highway 31 and the Bartholomew-Johnson county line. Per INDOT, Indiana State Police are investigating the crash. ISP has reported that at least one person was injured in the crash. Troopers have not yet reported exactly how many people were injured in the crash. The extent of the injuries the crash caused is also currently unclear. Neither ISP nor INDOT have specified exactly what caused the crash. All lanes of I-65 northbound reopened in Bartholomew County around 3:25 p.m., meaning the roadway was closed for about half an hour.
