Crash at Chula Vista construction site closes 805 off-ramp
CHULA VISTA, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) -- An early morning collision at a construction site forced authorities to close the 805 freeway off-ramp in Chula Vista, causing traffic delays. At least two vehicles were involved in a crash at the Interstate 805 off-ramp to Telegraph Canyon Road and L Street in Chula Vista before 7 a.m. Wednesday. The California Highway Patrol issued a Sig Alert at 7:41 a.m. alerting drivers the off-ramp was closed after one of the vehicles reportedly crashed into some construction equipment that was on the right shoulder. According to CHP, around 10 yellow, sand-filled attenuator bins were destroyed. The Sig Alert will remain in place for an unknown amount of time for emergency repairs to the guardrail. Traffic was backed up on I-805 and Telegraph Canyon Road, according to 511SD.
