Coroner identifies driver in fatal solo crash off Hwy 178
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- The Kern County Coroner’s Office identified the driver in a solo-vehicle crash off Highway 178 that killed a Weldon man and woman in March. Frank Struska, 65, of Weldon, was driving a vehicle when it struck a tree in the 19000 block of Highway 178 at 6:35 p.m. March 28, according to officials. The coroner’s office previously identified the passenger as Deborah Lea Struska, 62. According to the California Highway Patrol, Frank Struska was driving a Lexus RX400 eastbound on Highway 178, east of Kelso Valley Road, when his vehicle veered off the roadway and crashed into a tree. The vehicle was fully engulfed and the Struskas were pinned inside, CHP said. Both Frank and Deborah Struska were pronounced dead at the scene.
