Community pays respects to fallen servicemember killed in training accident
BIGLERVILLE, Pa. (WHTM) -- Many came together to pay their respects to a fallen servicemember Saturday morning in Adams County. U.S. Army Specialist Krystofer Lope, 18, died March 12 after a training accident at the Letterkenny Army Depot. He was laid to rest Saturday. "A solemn afternoon here on Saturday in Adams County as the community gathered to pay tribute to one of their own, a fallen hero gone too soon," U.S. Army Reserve Commander Robert Prah, reflecting on his time with Lopez. "The community loves him. The procession, the streets were lined all the way from ship Shippensburg to here in Biglerville. Just truly a show of respect for Krystofer and his family. Emotional, moving." An Adams County native, Lopez' services were held at his alma mater, Biglerville High School. Family, friends, and members of the community came out to pay their respects. Colonel Caleb Lewis expressed his gratitude. "We've seen just an outpouring of of support, whether it's online, whether it's in person, and I think today is illustrative of that," Lewis said. "it's really hard to communicate just how much a singular individual like Krystofer is able to provide in terms of security for our installations."
