Colorado Springs flight nurse killed in New Mexico MedEvac plane crash

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — A flight nurse from Colorado Springs was among four people killed when a MedEvac plane crashed in New Mexico on Thursday, May 14. According to the Associated Press, the plane was en route from Roswell Air Center to Sierra Blanca Regional Airport when it crashed before dawn Thursday, killing the four people aboard. The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the crash, as fire crews work tirelessly to gain control of a wildfire that sparked from the wreckage. The four people killed in the crash were identified as pilots Keelan Clark and Ali Kawsara and flight nurses Sarah Clark and Jamie Novick. Novick, who previously served her country as a member of the United States Air Force, called Colorado Springs home. "Jamie’s life was full of purpose. She was a daughter, a wife, a mother, a sister, a nurse, a veteran, a friend, and a servant," said Greg Bunch, Novick's father, in a statement sent to FOX21 News. "She did hard things with courage. She loved people with sincerity. She cared for the hurting. She showed up for her family. She lived with joy and humility." Novick is survived by her husband Ryan and their two children. Several GoFundMe campaigns have been set up in Novick's honor to help support her husband and children and to help her parents travel to the memorial service. "The same compassion, courage, commitment, and selflessness she showed her family carried into her careers. Jamie dedicated her life to serving others as an Air Force veteran, emergency room nurse, and most recently, a flight nurse. She cared deeply for everyone she came across," said Ryan Novick. According to the statement from her family, Jamie Novick's passing comes just 13 months after the loss of her brother Mark in a car crash. "She loved her older brother Mark, even though, like older brothers often do, he could drive her crazy," said Bunch. "Jamie took his passing very hard as you can imagine, and it all relates to how deeply Jamie loved people and loved her brother. Now losing Jamie has brought a level of grief that is hard to describe. Yet even in that grief, we are grateful for the life she lived and the love she gave."
