Collision at American Science & Surplus store in Geneva, Illinois

A car collided with the American Science & Surplus store on Monday afternoon in Kane County near Geneva, a Chicago suburb. According to store workers, the incident occurred a little after 1 p.m. Officials from the Kane County Sheriff's Office stated that the driver mistakenly shifted the car into drive instead of reverse, causing it to crash into the building. Thankfully, there was no sign of impairment in the driver. Although the store was open during the accident, no one inside was harmed, including the driver and three children in the car. The crash caused damage to multiple glass walls and items in the store, with efforts underway to repair the broken windows. In a reassuring Facebook update, the store mentioned that all individuals involved are safe despite the frightening experience. The incident occurred at one of the two remaining American Science & Surplus stores, now employee-owned, after the flagship store in Park Ridge closed in September.
