Clovis police probe deadly motorcycle collision

During the early hours of Thursday, January 1, Clovis Police Department officers initiated a traffic stop on a black Ford Mustang near Llano Estacado Boulevard and Main Street. The vehicle evaded the stop and sped into Curry County, ultimately crashing in a field south of County Road 7. The driver, Julian Romo, 20, was identified at the crash scene, and a passenger, Jesus Romo, 27, was found unconscious in a nearby field. Both were taken to Plains Regional Medical Center for medical attention, where Jesus Romo later passed away. Investigations revealed that the Mustang was traveling at a speed of 149 mph before the crash, and a firearm with a conversion device allowing full automatic firing was recovered. Julian Romo was arrested, charged with multiple offenses, including Homicide by Vehicle and is currently detained at the Curry County Adult Detention Center.
