Closure on Southbound MoPac near US 183 due to deadly accident
Austin emergency responders closed all southbound lanes of MoPac Expressway on Tuesday morning due to a police activity incident. The Texas Department of Transportation advised drivers to find alternative routes as the road closure led to traffic congestion. The Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority later confirmed that the closure was caused by a crash just past the West Anderson Lane overpass and U.S. Highway 183. Sadly, one individual lost their life in the accident. Investigations into the crash and fatality are being carried out by the Austin Police Department's Vehicular Homicide detectives. One lane was reopened to traffic following the incident.
