CHP: Man dead after crash into an electric pole in Hanford
HANFORD, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - A man is dead after he crashed into an electric pole in Hanford Wednesday morning, the California Highway Patrol said. At around 6 a.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Jackson Avenue and 9th Avenue for reports of a crash. Investigators determined that a man, who was driving a 2009 Toyota Corolla eastbound on Jackson Avenue, west of 9th Avenue. CHP said that he was driving at a high rate of speed. The driver allowed the Toyota to veer to the left in a northeasterly direction, across the westbound lane of Jackson Avenue. CHP said that the man allowed the car go into the dirt shoulder of Jackson Avenue. The man then made a hard right turn in an attempt to continue back to the asphalt. CHP said that due to the right turn, the car began to rotate in a clockwise direction as it continued in a southeasterly direction across both lanes of Jackson Avenue. The left side of the driver's door ended up crashing into an electric pole. The car came to a rest. Due to the impact, the driver sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead. This is an ongoing investigation.
