Child dies in SW Austin crash; driver faces intoxication manslaughter charges

A man was arrested and charged with intoxication manslaughter after a car crash that resulted in the death of a 4-year-old child. The incident occurred on June 8, around 1:31 a.m., when multiple 911 calls reported a single car crash on S MoPac. The car had flipped over onto its roof and was found in a ditch by responding officers. The driver, 26-year-old Jonathan Dominguez, was unconscious in the driver's seat. Witnesses saw Dominguez attempting to get a woman out of the car but prevented others from helping before the police arrived. A preliminary investigation revealed that Dominguez was driving with a woman in the passenger’s seat and four children in the back seat when the car struck a guardrail and rolled over, resulting in the death of a 4-year-old child. Dominguez, who smelled of alcohol, told police he couldn't recall the crash as he had "blacked out" after floating the river in New Braunfels. He was taken to a local hospital where he was found to be belligerent. Dominguez was subsequently arrested and charged with intoxication manslaughter. The condition of the other passengers in the car remains unknown.
