Celebration of life ceremonies to remember victims of deadly I-40 crash

Celebration of life services will remember two of the four victims killed in a wrong-way crash last week on Interstate 40 in Canadian County. Early Friday morning, four young Oklahomans were killed when a wrong-way driver crashed head-on into their vehicle on I-40 near Czech Hall Road. The impact of the collision caused the victims' vehicle to catch fire. The victims were identified as Kiercy Hickson, Quincy Jones Jr., Haleigh Salazar, and Brad Palmer. All four were between 18 and 20 years old. Remembering the Victims On Thursday, celebration of life services will be held for two of the four victims. Hickson will be remembered during a service at Life Church in Stillwater. Jones, who had graduated from El Reno High School just days before the crash, will be remembered during a ceremony at Memorial Stadium in El Reno.Both services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday. Video Below: Former teacher leads effort to help families after Canadian County crash that killed 4More on the suspect The Oklahoma Highway Patrol confirmed that drunk driving is to blame for the wrong-way crash, and officials said the suspect is not a U.S. citizen. According to the Oklahoma Department of Public Safety, the suspect was granted DACA status in 2015 and was given a work authorization permit. He lives in Tennessee but was in Oklahoma for work. He's now under an ICE detainer, and DPS Commissioner Tim Tipton said their goal is that he will never be free in the U.S. again. Officials said they found opened and unopened cans of beer in the suspect's truck and that he was impaired at the time of the crash. Tipton and Oklahoma Highway Patrol officials said impaired driving is not an accident, but rather a choice. "Every year, we lose about 200 people in Oklahoma to impaired driving. Thousands more are injured from impaired driving, and it's something we take serious." The suspect, whom KOCO 5 has not named because formal charges have not been filed, was expected to be in court for an arraignment Thursday morning. We have since learned his court appearance is not on the docket.
