Car thief dies in rollover accident: MCSO
An 18-year-old suspect who allegedly stole a car in Hillsborough County tragically lost his life in a crash while driving it into Palmetto, as reported by the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office. The incident occurred when deputies were alerted to a stolen vehicle from Hillsborough County heading south on U.S. 41 into Palmetto around 8 p.m. on Monday. After locating the stolen Honda Accord, confirming it was stolen, and attempting to pull it over, the driver ultimately collided with another car in Palmetto, leading to a fatal outcome. The driver of the stolen vehicle, identified as 18-year-old Michael Jerome Austin of Ruskin, was unconscious and later pronounced dead at a local hospital. The other driver, a 24-year-old woman, sustained minor injuries and was also hospitalized for treatment.
