Car plunges into Hackensack River in multi-vehicle crash
HACKENSACK, N.J. (PIX11) -- Several vehicles were involved in a crash on Route 80 East in Hackensack on Monday night, with one vehicle submerged in the Hackensack River, according to the Hackensack Fire Department. The crash happened around 9:50 p.m. at the Hackensack River Bridge. Officials say in addition to multiple damaged vehicles at the location, one vehicle had gone over the barrier and into the Riverside Park part of the river. The Ridgefield Park Volunteer Fire Department also responded to the scene. Crews used drones to scan for thermal imaging to check for any victims still in the vehicle; however, the car was clear. Police located a party nearby. The vehicle was removed from the river. No information was provided about injuries resulting from the crash.
