Car flips over in Route 1 crash, bouncing off nearby motel; Injuries unknown
Several structures were damaged after a car flipped over in a crash just off Route 1 South in Westwood, Massachusetts.The crash happened just after 4 p.m. Monday. Route 1 traffic has been reduced to one lane in the southbound direction, Westwood police said.Video from Sky5 showed what appeared to be a white SUV rolled over in front of a business with significant damage. A knocked-over telephone pole was seen near the rolled-over car. Debris from the crash was also scattered around the car. A witness told NewsCenter 5 they saw the car take out the telephone pole before going airborne and bouncing off the side of a Budget Inn motel. Those who felt the crash and saw the aftermath are badly shaken."When it hit, I heard it and it felt like it was an earthquake and I ran outside and I saw the car there," said Jeannean Socha, who works at the motel. The motel is without power as crews work around the live wires that were downed as a result of the crash. Traffic will be affected as crews work to clean up and investigate the crash, state police said.
