Car drives into Utah Animal Adoption Center, leaves significant damage

SANDY, Utah (ABC4) — A car crashing into the Utah Animal Adoption Center Sunday afternoon left the building with significant damage. According to the Sandy Police Department, the accident occurred just after 3:00 p.m. on Sunday. A driver was attempting to make an improper turn when they lost control and the car rammed into the Utah Animal Adoption Center, located at 8465 S 700 E. Police confirmed no one was inside the building and no animals were injured. The driver of the vehicle suffered minor injuries, but not significant enough to be transported. Officials said while the extent of damages are unknown, the car seemed to be halfway into the building. A photo from the Utah Animal Adoption Center verified this. The adoption center stated how grateful they are that no animals or people suffered any injuries. They said, "This could have been so much worse and for this we are most thankful." As the adoption center navigates what the future of the building means for their services and the impact it will have, they set up a donation fund for those who feel inclined to assist with financials.
