Car crashes into creek on east side after driver loses control
Emergency crews in Indianapolis successfully retrieved a car from a creek on the near east side after a driver lost control and crashed. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department reported that the incident occurred around 8 a.m. near English Avenue and E. Pleasant Run Parkway South Drive. A young woman was driving when she encountered water on the road, causing her to hydroplane and lose control of her vehicle. The car then slid down a 20-foot embankment. The driver, a 20-year-old woman, dialed 911 to report the incident, stating that she had hit deep water leading to her car spinning around. The vehicle, a Chevy Malibu, floated about 400 feet down Pleasant Run Creek before being recovered by crews. The Indianapolis Fire Department provided the driver with a life jacket, and rescue personnel reached her and brought her to safety by 8:30 a.m. Fortunately, the driver was the sole occupant and was not injured. A tow truck was seen transporting the damaged car from the scene. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
