Car crashes into Butler house after late-night pursuit
A residence in Butler city incurred significant damage when it was struck by a vehicle during a late-night police chase. According to Tonya Green, a neighbor residing across the street, the incident was distressing and frightening. The crash occurred at a house near the junction of New Castle Street and Hansen Avenue as police pursued a silver Volkswagen Jetta. The driver, identified as Joseph Bailie, appeared unconscious in the vehicle when approached by troopers, who requested identification before he attempted to flee. Despite their efforts to stop him, Bailie drove erratically and eventually crashed into the front of a house on Hansen Avenue. The dwelling sustained considerable damage, according to Green, who described the scene as chaotic. Fortunately, the house was unoccupied at the time of the collision, and the driver was apprehended inside the residence. Bailie has been charged with several offenses, including attempting to evade law enforcement and driving under the influence.
