
Cape Coral canal crash linked to possible driver impairment
A recent police report states that a driver exhibited signs of impairment following a collision that resulted in the tragic death of a woman as her SUV went into a canal in Cape Coral on June 4. The Cape Coral police have initiated a DUI inquiry into the incident which occurred on Burnt Store Road. According to the report, two vehicles were heading south on Burnt Store Road around 10:30 p.m. when one vehicle changed lanes, leading to a rear-end collision with an SUV. As a result, the SUV veered off the road, struck a guardrail, and ended up in the canal, resulting in the driver's death at the scene. Authorities noted that the driver of the vehicle that changed lanes displayed signs of impairment, prompting the ongoing DUI investigation. The names of those involved in the crash have not been disclosed by the police.
