Canton man killed in crash with semi-truck: OSHP
WAYNE TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WJW) — The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly crash in Tuscarawas County. According to troopers, the crash happened at about 11:45 p.m. on Tuesday, May 26 at the intersection of state Route 93 and U.S. Route 250. Investigators said a Nissan traveling south on state Route 93 failed to stop at a stop sign and collided with a Peterbilt commercial truck. The driver of the Nissan was identified as Jeffrey Knerr, 53, of Canton. Troopers said Knerr died from injuries suffered in the crash. The Ohio State Highway Patrol reported Knerr was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision. Investigators also believe impairment may have been a factor in the crash, according to a press release. The driver of the commercial truck was not injured, according to the patrol. The crash remains under investigation.
