Cal State Fullerton soccer player dies after being struck by truck on scooter
A tragic incident involving a Cal State Fullerton soccer player has left the team in mourning. Lauren Turner, a sophomore defender, passed away in hospice care almost six weeks after being struck by a truck while riding a scooter with her teammate Ashlyn Gwynn near campus. The crash occurred as they were heading to a Fullerton men's soccer match. Gwynn, who was also injured in the incident, is currently hospitalized but expected to recover. Turner, who was described as a beloved and vibrant teammate, had played in all of Fullerton's matches before the accident. The team remembers her fondly for her humor, charisma, and caring nature. The cause of the crash is still being investigated by Fullerton police. A memorial for Turner is set to take place at the school's soccer stadium on Wednesday evening.
